Starting the day quote

In my previous post I mentioned one of two quotes that are posted near my desk that I read every morning when I start my day. Here is the second quote –

“Today may there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others. May you use the gifts that you have received and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are. Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and everyone of us.” Author unknown

If I may, please let me dissect each line of the above quote from my perspective –

In these tumultuous times it’s more important than ever to find, cultivate & rely on the peace within. It is that peace that will guide you throughout your day, that will assist you in making thoughtful, reasonable & fair decisions. It is that peace that quiets the storm that swirls about you, and allows you to see past the storm and to look forward to the calm that will inevitably follow.

And though it may be hard to accept at times, you are exactly where you are meant to be, and the answer as to why may not be immediately apparent, but it will eventually reveal itself, and with that revelation will come understanding and wisdom.

The human condition is such that I don’t believe we can fully comprehend the infinite possibilites that come with having faith, in ourselves and in others. However, in having this faith, this is what has moved mountains, healed mind & body, and corrected injustices that many thought would never be remedied. True faith is a healing force in & of itself.

I’m not sure many of today realize how many gifts we have truly received & possess. More times than not we short change ourselves and suffer from self-imposed limitations. Most importantly though, we should always pass on the love that has been given to us, and is the ultimate gift of “paying it forward”, for it costs nothing to give, and yet is valued beyond all riches.

If you are not content with yourself, how can you expect others to be content with you? Like love, contentment radiates from within. You are who you are, and it’s important to realize that you are beautiful, gifted and talented in a unique way from any other individual. For years I wished I was better looking, stronger, smarter, kinder, and the list goes on……but in the end I have come to realize that I was created to be me, with all of my gifts and flaws, and that to compare myself to anyone else is only to invite self-doubt and unhappiness. Instead I have learned to thank God for all that He has blessed me with, and to try and use those blessings for the best.

And here’s the trick, to “let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.” Think about it, reflect upon it, accept it, exhale deeply and embrace it. For you see, “It is there for each and every one of us.”
